What does it really mean when we say women need to lift heavy?
FALSE
“Lifting heavy” means lifting weight that is heavy for YOU, and working over time to steadily increase the amount of weight that you can lift. A weight that is heavy for YOU might be too light or too heavy for someone else. As long as it is heavy for YOU, you will gain the benefits.
Did you know that building muscle is also an effective way to burn calories? Muscles require more energy than fat, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. Of course this also means you will need to eat well to maintain your muscles. A proper balanced diet will help you maintain and build muscle without gaining fat. A proper diet should include carbohydrates for energy, protein for building muscle, fruits and veggies for vitamins, and healthy fats to help absorb vitamins, keep cholesterol and blood sugar under control, and support cell growth.
