Gentry Creek Falls 7/26/20

Waterfalls are my absolute favorite hiking/photography destination! I first discovered Gentry Creek falls in the summer of ‘17 when I checked it out on my own. It had been a very rainy month and the creek crossings were high and fast. I was treated at the end to twin side-by-side falls. I’ve been meaning to go back ever since, but didn’t actually make it until this past weekend when Hubs and I decided it would be a perfect way to spend our Sunday afternoon.

The hike is about 5.4 miles round-trip and fairly flat. Unlike my first time here, this time we counted the creek crossings. 18. One way. Also unlike my first time, the crossings were generally low. We got our feet wet, but mostly just our feet. There might have been a few that got to mid-shin. When we reached the falls, there was only one, instead of the twins I saw the first time.

There is another waterfall above the first one, that is accessed by a very steep/loose trail up the cliff. I was unable to clamber up it on the soft mud the first time I did this hike, but we managed to get up there this time.

We both enjoyed cooling off in the small pool below the waterfall!

Long-exposure will always be my favorite way to photograph waterfalls. I love playing with the camera settings and seeing just how silky-smooth I can get that water. I brought the tripod with me, but actually just propped my camera on a rock for this photo.
