Foodie Friday : Quick Oats
I know, overnight oats are all the rage. And I keep saying that I will try them out…but I’m so used to my quick oats it’s hard to switch to something that I have to prepare the night before! Quick oats have been my go-to for several years now.
I was not a fan of oatmeal for the longest time. I’d eat it occasionally, but I never really liked it. I preferred making myself a chocolate-chip pancake for breakfast every morning. But there came a point when I needed to save more time in the morning (so I could sleep later…of course) and I wanted an even quicker breakfast. So I made it my mission to make oatmeal more appealing. After some experimentation, I managed to create an oatmeal that I didn’t mind eating every morning for breakfast.
Gretchen’s Quick Oats
Step 1 : Combine the oats, flax, and milk in a bowl. Microwave on high for 1:20.
Step 2 : Stir in the peanut butter and cinnamon until the peanut butter is melted in. Add the fruit and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
Step 3 : Enjoy!
*Depending on the sodium content of your peanut butter, you may also want to add a pinch of salt to your oatmeal. Personally, I find that the peanut butter adds enough salt for me.
*Everybody’s caloric needs are slightly different. I suggest you start with these amounts, but then adjust to more or less depending on your personal needs.
