Well, I haven’t run since June 17th, and that has been a bummer, but I have been putting in some miles on the bike! Not nearly as many as previous summers when I was forced to find an alternative to running, but hopefully enough to keep me in some semblance of shape. Spot the Koala Clip peeking out between my shoulder blades? Hands down the best way to carry your phone while on the go. I use it for running, hiking, biking, and even used it to carry my phone, ID, and credit card while at Disney in April! It keeps your phone dry from sweat and rain, and in the winter it keeps it insulated so the cold doesn’t drain the battery. If you’d like to try it out, head to www.koalaclip.com and use code GRETCHEN10.

PERSONAL UPDATE

I have completed 4 weeks of physical therapy for my foot and shoulder, and while neither has reached 100% yet, they are definitely both showing improvement! I’m hoping to get the green light to run again soon. My lungs have only been getting worse instead of better, but I’ve decided it’s not worth going back to the doctor for that until I start running again since they must just need the running to get them back to normal strength. If they seem to need more than just running, I think I will find a pulmonologist.

In other news, I asked my doctor to check my iron level since I’ve been more tired than I think I should be, and it turned out my iron was wayyy too high instead of too low! 🤦🏻‍♀️ So, I went back in two weeks to check again : still too high. Back in 4 months to check again: mid-normal range. At which point the doctor decided I was fine and didn’t need to come back. I’m not happy about that, given my history of LOW iron, I probably should go back in another month to make sure it isn’t continuing to drop. Now I’m trying to decide if I should wait until I’m too weak to get out of bed, or if I should just find a new doctor now who will be more willing to talk to me and work with me to figure out how to keep my iron steady!

COACHING UPDATE

I was pleased to hear from one of my workout class clients recently that she has lost 16 pounds since starting my program! I’m proud of all of my clients for being dedicated to thier fitness and getting their workouts done every week whether or not they make it to class! I’m glad I’m able to offer live classes and record them for those who can’t make it so that no one has to miss out, no matter what their schedule is. Message me to learn more or to join one of my classes.
